The smallpox vaccine was the first vaccine to be developed against a contagious disease.<br>It is a deadly viral infectious disease that has been completely eradicated.<br>Smallpox has no cure.<br>These are the tubes that held the 10 Capillary Tubes (the containers are empty) used for administering the vaccine.<br>Two of the tubes are plastic and were manufactured by The National Drug Company in 1964.<br>It states on the tube "Each tube contains sufficient virus for one vaccination" along with a description for skin prep and the vaccination process.  Also stated on the tube "contains brilliant green" a diluent used to rehydrate the vaccine which makes it easier to see in a bifurcation needle.<br>The single wooden tube has portions of the label missing.  The description of use appears to be the same as the plastic tubes.  This tube was most likely from the late 1950s<br>Trivia fact:  For those of you who carry the distinguishing smallpox vaccine mark (a point of interest in the 'Outlander' series).  It was used as physical evidence of vaccination when anti-vaccination activists would forge certificates of vaccination.  History repeats itself, doesn't it?
