This is a rare November 8th, 1976 "Stage" playbill from the one-week, Post-Broadway engagement of the WILLIAM LUCE play "THE BELLE OF AMHERST" at the Fisher Theatre in Detroit, Michigan. (The production opened April 28th, 1976 at the Longacre Theatre in New York City and ran for 116 performances before going on the road.) ..... Based on the life of EMILY DICKINSON, the one-character play starred JULIE HARRIS (shown in the cover photo) ..... Note: JULIE HARRIS was honored with her fourth Tony Award for "Best Actress in a Play" for this role ..... CREDITS: Book by WILLIAM LUCE, compiled by TIMOTHY HELGESON; Sets designed by H. R. POINDEXTER; Costumes designed by THEONI V. ALDREDGE; Directed by CHARLES NELSON REILLY; Produced by MIKE MERRICK and DON GREGORY ..... DETAILS: The sixteen page playbill measures 5 1/2" X 8 1/2" inches and includes full production credits, cast list, synopsis of scenes and bios of Miss Harris, Emily Dickinson and each member of the creative team but with the exception of the front cover, no cast photos .....
